Understand Charts

The Overview page is the hub for analytics. Once you have enough data, your spending patterns naturally emerge.

Bar chart

The bar chart shows how spending changes across a time range. If the bars trend upward, check which categories are rising. If they trend downward, congrats, your cost control may be working.

Most of the time the chart fluctuates. Pay attention to the months with the highest spend or those above the monthly average line.

HeyCost charts are interactive. Tap a bar to jump to that month. Select "Year to date" to quickly see total spending this year.

Category breakdown

Category stats help you see how you are investing in your life.

"Do these investments match my expectations?"

"Am I neglecting other areas?"

To dive deeper, tap any category to view its detail page.

Quick filters

Quick Filter ("Exclude") helps you isolate the combinations you want to observe. A common use is to see your "cost of living".

By selecting "Fixed Expenses + Essentials", you can estimate how much it costs just to maintain your basic life. This is a useful reference when saving an emergency fund or planning a gap period.
